Fried Food on a Stick

This weekend the Ashton's ventured to the State Fair.  Turns out taking a two year old to the fair isn't as much fun as you would think it would be.  Though Aubrey enjoyed petting her first cow and seeing rabbits, goats and chickens up close (Bock Bock?!  Bock Bock!) she wasn't really into the heat or staying in her stroller through the crowds.  She did enjoy a corn dog though.  Eric bought her a dog with a walking stick as a souvenir and she is asking frequently to walk the dog.

Can't say I blame the girl...she is recovering from her first case of strep throat which pretty much kept her out of daycare all of last week.  She's been a trooper, considering.  She even managed to let me put pigtails in her hair most days.
Ponytails, see a goat, try to give yourself a bath, walk a dog.
Saturday we had a family dinner at Gramboli's since Aunt Elaine is still in town.  Aubrey got very excited when she noticed a little girl peering over her booth seat.  "Pi-puh!  Pi-puh!"  She went running to the booth and tried to climb up in it with a family of three.  Never mind that the girl looked to be about four years old with long blonde hair, i.e. nothing at all like Piper in real life.  Obviously the memory of her precious cousin is in the front of her thoughts lately.

We are also busy learning our letters, via the iPad.  We are going through another British cartoon phase with Guess with Jess.  And spending more and more time looking at people through the corners of her eyes with a slow head turn.  Many nights over the last week Aubrey has made a game out of "sneaking up" on mom and dad in the living room, which basically consists of her taking baby steps back and forth between us with a very sly smile on her face and then bursting into a full smile once we "realize" she is standing in front of us.  Amazing how entertaining that game can be (for all of us, really.)  Sometimes I see Aubrey smile and I just think she is the most beautiful child in the entire world.  Maybe Aunt Teri is right....maybe she is model potential.  Not that we would ever let her fall into that sort of rubbish.  She has been good about bed time lately, but insists that both baby dolls come with her.
